It's to late now but when fish are sick and people say to add salt and warm the water(freshwater) what kinda salt do you use table salt (the kind you put on ur steak) or aquarium salt (the kind for salt water) thanks

You use aquarium salt(the kind for fresh water tanks)marine salt(the kind used in salt water tanks)imo shouldnt be used in fresh water tanks

I don't believe from what I have read that the iodine in table salt does any harm.

You should pre-dissolve any salt in a pitcher prior to adding it to the aquarium.

Get some aquarium salt, not marine salt. For most illness the dosage is 0ne tablespoon per 5 gallons of water. This can vary though, so would be better to list specific fish and aliments.

Not using table salt is a complete myth: SALT

For a FW fish that is not used to salt in their water. dose 1tbsp/10g the 1st day & add the same the next day (making that a total of 1tbsp/5g).

And the warm water is from raising the tank temp to mid 80*'s slowly.

This treatment is only for Ich, BTW, not just whenever your fish are "sick".
