I was woundering what everyones opinion was on what type or brand of salt to use for a brackish tank. When I first set up my brackish tank the fish store I went to gave me oceanic salt to set it up, but another fish store told me to use aquarium salt. Any suggestions?

I use Oceanic salt for my brackish tank. 4 tablespoon per gallon......

I was told that aquarium salt is not as good as the sea salt. The sea salt has more minerals & elements in it.
If you already have the water going, and are going to add the salt to it, don't add it directly to the tank, make sure you take some of the water from your tank, and mixit with the salt in a bucket first. You will get a more even distribution this way.

aquarium salt will work but i would use the oceanic a better product and if you buy a large bag it should last for some time for a brackish tank unless its 1000 g :)

true but for brackish they wont mind i constantly change the levels of salt in my brackish tank because thats how it is in nature sometimes more fresh than salt sometimes other way around

I try to change it up too, but I tend to follow the rule when it comes to my brackish tank....I try to keep it around the 1.014 - 1.016 mark.....I kind of need to with the red legged hermit reef crabs that I have in there. I try not to let it dip way down. I also add ESSENTIAL ELEMENT by KENT MARINE once every two weeks....just to keep the crabs happy!

I use Instant Ocean for all of my stuff. I don't like Red Sea at all - it has too much "other" stuff in it. Oceanic is good as well.

nice i only have my target puffer in my brackish oh besides his feeders that he never ate anything else gets killed epspecially crustaceans i have tried other things out but all get killed so he is a loner for the rest of time i guess hes so mean that he took a chunk out of my finger one day blood everywhere it hurt little bastard but it was my fault for getting to comfortable hand feeding
