guys hey.. i was reading about salt in the forums and i'm not sure who it was but some one had commented that the salt should be iodine free.. i cant seem to get aquarium salt (is that iodine free?) now i just got a pack of rock salt (500gms) and the pack said it contains iodine 15 - 30 PPM (parts per million i guess).. now can i use this or not.. its for one of my silver arowanas.. he seems to bite his own tail.. or are there any other cures for this.. the water is super clean.. i change about 80 % every week and refill the amount i take out during poop clean.. let me know ppl.. cheers..

Firstly, how big is your tank? 2 possibilities - Tank too small or worms in tail. It is not recommended to use salt with iodine or calcium silicate.

IMHO a weekly 80% wc is a bit too much.. 30% would do..

You worry the wrong additive, iodine. Iodine is not the issue. Yellow prussiate is.

thanks guys..
solomon.. ya tank is a lil small for him.. its only a 3ftX1.5ft tank..but i have another silver in a similar tank and she seems ok.. they are both around 12 inches.. i've been sourcing a larger tank to move my largest 19 inch aro in there and house the 3 other aros in a 6ftX1.5ft tank..

majinn.. its in the portico of my house dude so there is a lot of partial sunlight hitting the tanks and that layer of algae develops no matter what..

lupin - yellow prus???? ok mate will check that out..

thanks again guys..
