Ok I have a 9 gallon biube tank that's still in the box. I haven't found a place to put it yet and not really sure what I want to put in it. I was thinking last night of maybe setting up a small salt water tank. Now I know I probably won't be able to keep fish in it since it's a cylinder tank. But I was thinking of just putting some sand, live rock and maybe a few invertibrates. I was thinking of small hermit crabs and some shrimp. Would this work? I'd love to have a fish in there as well but I honestly can't think of fish that would be happy and healthy in a cylinder tank. If you can recommend a small fish to keep in it that would be great. But I'll be happy with an invertibrate tank as well. Maybe you guys can recommend some interesting looking shrimps or other invertibrates. I'm going to be doing some research on it but I'd definately would love to have a small saltwater tank. So any info would be appreciated.

One small goby would probably work. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=2124 has a big variety of ano fish that could go in a 10 gallon tank. I would just not pick any of the clowns unless you find a mated pair. Almost all of the gobies on that page would be ok in that tank. Put only one though. You may find two that are compatible together in that tank but any more than two would be pushing it.

As for inverts you can pretty much pick any thing that doesn't grow to big.
Maybe a star or any of the shrimp. Liveaquaria.com has almost all the information on these inverts and fish as well as the pictures of them. If you want to avoid the shipping charges saltwaterfish.com has a bigger variety of fish. The fish are also cheaper and the shipping charges are cheaper.

I would get a little bit of Live sand in there with some RO water and get it cycling. what does that thing have for filtration, thats going to be the biggest concern. if it has an airstone and sponge deal, i would get a little more rock then normal. A couple dartfish and small clown goby would be a fine mix in that tank, and i would invest in getting a small skunk cleaner and maybe even a small peppermint shrimp. get the two dartfish first after the tank has had water LS and LR in it for atleast 3 weeks. test the water before any purhcase to make sure the ammonia is 0 and nitrite is also 0. keep the nitrate very low, .5 or lower if you can. this will help the inhibitants feel a little more at home.
