first let me say i know nothing about saltwater fish, but i have noticed a lack of discusion when it comes to breeding any kind of saltwater fish why is this, has anyone here ever bread anything in saltwater?

When saltwater fish spawn their eggs and fry are planktonic. For most enthusiests that happen to have a pair the eggs will be destroyed by their filtration. Trying to recreate the ocean without filtering tiny particles makes it near impossible to breed alot of SWF. There are some SWF that do spawn ( some clowns, cards) and can be cared for. I know there is a lot of research being done to try and figure out a way to help provide more captive bred species. 99% of SWF on the market are taken from the wild.

yeah some do. Definately NOT as common as freshwater. Here are some fish that do breed in captivity...Dicordipinna griessingeri, Choerodon fasciatus, Plectranthias sp., Siganus magnifica, Chaetodon mitratusem, Pomacentrus smithi, and Centropyge eibli. There's others but I'm at work and its the best i can do. If your dead set on it get a pair of Cardnials. Its not only filtration issues when most reef fish spawn, their yougn are plankton like free swimmers and would be impossible to care for in a tiny aquarium. Alot of research is being done on this now. There are a couple of books out on Captive SWF breeding.

My bro and I bought a 7g cube tank for dad Christmas gift....Generally, you want to start small when dealing with saltwater...Hence the small 7g....Yeah I know....But, I was looking into breeding the Clownfish, you know, the Little Nemo....I am actually Googling some info right now on breeding clowns....Gonna check YouTubbe too...Lots of breeding videos from Oscars to Asian Arowana....

My friend you couldn't me more wrong. It may look easy being small but with less water the parameters flucuate more. Its much much easier to start with around 30-55 galllons. And I'm sorry to say that percula clowns breeding in a 7 gal. nano is going to be extremely hard, mostlikley your going to have two dudes in their.

nano is not that much harder ,

my tank is 8gal tank , hob filter , live rock ,sand ,tap water and salt mix going great for a few months now
