Last week I happened upon 5 metaframe tanks, some with hoods, old filters, iron stand and a piston driven air pump. All look in great shape. Bought the whole lot for $50. My question is this: can the metaframes be used for saltwater? I have read in different places that they are fine to use for a reef and others that said the salt will destroy the metal. Any ideas, thoughts or experiences would be great. Thanks.

People didnt used to have a choice. They had to use metal frame tanks for SW...there WILL be corrosion, and having and old tank probably wont help.
I had hoped to use one because I love the look of them, but I guess I'll just pick up a modern tank for the reef and use these for my FW. Thanks for the advice.
