I have a 90 gal tank with a corner overflow. I have a wet/dry for up to 300 gal. It has a built in protien skimmer. Also 3 media drawers. I currently have carbon, diamand -phos mix, in the media drawers, along with phos. pads. I have a 1300 gph pump, 300 watt heater, and floresant lights for the lighting. Is this set up all right to switch over to a saltwater set up? Also what size pump do I need for the protien skimmer? Right now I only have a 3-400 gph pump for the protien skimmer. I currently have it set up for fresh water, but I really want a salt water tank. Would that be enough filtration for a 125 or 180 gal tank? Or am I going to have to get a larger pump?? I Know I am going to have to get some metal halide lights, But is there anything else I am missing??? I also have the opertunity to buy a 90 gal saltwater setup with 300 lbs of live rock, crushed coral subtrate, metal halide lights, the blue moon light set up, but it only has a canister filter, and 2 of the filters that you put on the back of the tank. The whole set up is $1000. Is it worth it?????, Or would I be better of buying a 180gal tank and using my set-up. Also the saltwater set up comes with fish, aneminities,.....Any sugestions would be gratly appetiated.
