buy live sand, live rock, and find someone who has estabilished water you can use. I always start my tanks like this and I have NEVER seen a cycle. From there its all yours.

This is how I did it too. Is this your first salt tank? If so, you might want to go bigger than a 10. I started with a 20 as my first salt tank and with I had gone bigger. The water is just harder to keep stable in a really small tank and your options for hardy, easy to keep stock is limited.

its all about the water quality with SW...using RO/DI water is key to a long standing tank (unless you are buying premixed SW)

alright thanks..
and yeah i already have a 20 gallon saltwater

Well how did you go about setting this one up?? Are you going with fish only tank? Reef? What kind of lighting do you have for the tank? Do you have a RO unit? What are you keeping in the 20G?

Read that book Mr. Reef suggested btw... You'll pat yourself on the back later after you save a lot of $ from not making common mistakes...
