hi i have had freshwater aquariums for like as far as i can remember I foud good deal on 50 gallon saltwater bowfront with live rock complete set up for 125 and stand ive been wanting to try saltwater tanks for a wile and ....

1. is this a good deal for saltwater aquarium?

2.Is it difficult to maintain saltwater aquariums?

3. Are saltwater aquariums expensive to maintain?

4. Am i better off not getting tank?
 
i'm guessing you ment to put this in the general aquaria or sw page.....cause as far as i know polyp's aren't saltwater fish lol

Yeah, I think this is a pretty good deal for a complete setup.

It's not that it's flat out difficult to maintain a saltwater aquarium, but depending on what you keep in there it's going to change the level of difficulty. The main thing with saltwater is that the fish are not as tolerant to declining water conditions as some freshwater species are.

Saltwater is a little more expensive to maintain than fresh with added equipment like skimmer, refractometers, and refugiums...but like I mentioned before...it really depends on what you're planning to keep. If you go reef, then yeah, plan on higher expenses...if you do a "fish only" or FOWLR tank than it will be a little more but not huge.

I would figure out what saltwater fish, inverts, or combination of the two you like and then make the call. If it seems like you like a lot of SPS or LPS corals but you're not sure you have the money for PC lighting, a good skimmer, and probably a sump, or you may not want to put the extra work in, than it may be a good idea to pass.

But if you're willing and able...it will be a great experience.:D
