Saltwater to Freshwater conversion

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All my tanks were previously salt water. I just rinse them clean and use vinegar and scrub the water stains and a razor blade, on glass tanks only! The pumps will be fine too. The hoods will be covered with salt residue but it cleans off easy and the extra salt wont hurt the fish if you miss a little bit. Bio media just rinse off and you can re use it. Protein skimmers and the gravel/decorations can be thrown in the trash, not used for fresh water. Basically if it worked for salt water it will work for fresh water i.e. pumps (air and water), lights, sump/canisters, media, heaters and so on...

don't throw the protein skimmer in the trash. Resell it, lots of those are worth quite a bit.

its an acrylic tank. All it comes with besides the tank/stand is a sump/pvc tubing.

Wipe it clean and use some Novus 1,2,and 3 to buff out the scratches. Big scratches you need to sand out and the info is on here just search "acrylic and scratch"
