has anyone had any experience in changing a saltwater tank to a freshwater one. i have a 75 gallon tank that i am trying to convert into freshwater. so far i have emptied the tank, taken out the sand, and rinsed it. is there anything else i should do?

what kind of sand are you using?
unless you want this to be an african cichlid tank i wouldn't suggest using the same sand... it'll raise the pH too much

other than giving everything a good clean and rinse, there isn't anything else, but to cycle it as a FW tank

Usually most people go the other way around lol. I would just make sure that you clean it out really well. Make sure not to use any type of soap or cleaning agent. What I do when converting fresh to salt is soak the tank in saltwater first to kill any freshwater bacteria. So I guess you could do the opposite and just soak it in freshwater. It kills the bacteria by changing the concentration of salt on the inside of their semipermeable membrane. So it either makes them burst from having too much salt inside or it makes them shrivle up for having too little.

yea i meant i took out the sand and then rinsed the tank. right now i added in gravel and filled the tank. anything else i should do?

You can use play sand instead of gravel if you prefer. I personally hate the look of gravel it just looks too gravelish.
