Alot of fish live in the estuarys around here. The fish go from freshwater to saltwater. My question is, if i was to say acclimate a snook, red fish, snapper or any other estuary fish. Could it survive in full freshwater its whole life? would there be any side affects? Is there any long term damage?

Some saltwater fish will acclimate very well to freshwater (striped bass are an example), some don't.

Side effects on the ones that can be kept long term in freshwater are generally smaller size and potentially shorter life span.

You'll have to research specific species for exact information, but in short, yes it's possible to acclimate certain saltwater species to freshwater, but definately not all. It depends on their physiology.

I'm not really sure about the species you mentioned in your post, hopefully someone else can answer that.

snook should do fine in freshwater from what ive read, i wouldnt risk it with the others.
