Saltwater vs freshwater?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Freshwater had the edge before I setup my drip system. Now it wins by a landslide.

I ran saltwater setups for years and they were great, but took lots of work and water changes aren't cheap.

Both are very cool though

Freshwater.. I prefer larger tanks and larger fish.. SW has that option but at a much higher price tag.. and for me I enjoy the fish I keep, so why go a different route compleately? I do however appreciate a nice small reef tank and intend to start-up another at some point in the future for a few lil' critters. hubby is a chemistry geek.. I full intend to utilize his geekynes against him lol. I enjoy the social structures ect. and the interactions of animals vs the care of a "system"

In a perfect world if I had unlimited resources.. I'de have both. for very different reasons.

I do miss some saltwater fish like angels, triggers and some wrasse species but the water changes is too much like pouring money down the drain.

I ll stick with fresh. I have done both and the sw tank was just to time consuming and a pain in the butt. It was also expensive. My FW setups are easy, cheap and low maintenance. SW tank really are not that bad if you have the time to upkeep them, I didn't.
