I have a pair of Salvinis, well they don't hate each other, was wondering what triggers their spawning, ph. water temp. What a proper grow out tank would be? I have read some articles but was looking for personal experiences.
Warm temps, constant water changes, adding frozen or live food to their staple (I do this twice a week), and plenty of spawning places. I forgot if they're cave or substrate spawners. For grow out tanks I think it goes the same for every cichlid species that you're trying to grow out.
Thanks. Ill bump the temp up a couple degrees its at 78/79 right now. I do water changes once a week about 20%. should they larger? at what age are they ready to breed.
Thanks I Appreciate all the help.
I think 78-80 is fine. Make sure you feed them frozen food too. I found that frozen food like mysis shrimp, krill and other food trigger them to spawn. I usually feed them a big meal then do a water change. Mine spawned around the 5" mark for the male.
