i was checking them out on the web and they really interest me. My question is which one is more colorfull and better looking the male or the female

females are plenty colorful . . . males get bigger (8" is possible) and are much nastier . . . I've had both (not at the same time), and I'll probably never buy a male salvini again

that being said, I prefer low-aggression tanks; if you don't mind the aggro, then the male salvini might be your preference

I have a male salvini without a mate and at times he's quite colorful. He's in a tank with other cichlids of a similar size and temperament and I don't have any aggression problems beyond the norm.

He is about six inches. He freaks my wife out because you can see his teeth.
