Salvini Cihlids

I did some research about this beautiful cichlid. Some people says is a little devil a bit aggressive. I'm planning to set up a 55g with four of them to maybe get a pair but if I get a pair should I move the other two to a different tank? I have 3 JD (4"-6") and a pleco (7") in a 90g. Can I put the other two Salvini in the 90g? I have another 55g I can set up for the non pair Salvini. I appreciate your comments.

My experience with salvini is they hate each other the most. And if you happen to get 3 males and 1 female, you end up with 3 males before a pair bonds.
If you get a pair I think they will easily dominate a 55 gallon.
They're beautiful cichlids though. One of my favorites.

The 55 will be good for a pair and I'd only suggest one salvini in a 90 with anything they are evil little things. I have a female in my 90 and she doesn't take anything from anyone. And a 90 is ok for a pair of jd ans maybe a salvini but I wouldn't risk it.

So do you its better to have them in the 90g? How about keeping 3 JD with 4 Salvinis?

In a 125 you could have a salvini pair with three JDs maybe, but in a 90 no way it would work. A salvini pair could and would wreak havoc. A 90 should really only house a pair of jd maybe a trio but I wouldn't add anything else let alone salvini

You could do a pair of salvini in a 55 just have a divider on hand because you will most likely need it. I have tried many times to find tank mates for my female with no success and would be best to take into account that these guys grow some pretty awesome needle like teeth so if they don't get along with other fish they can do some pretty decent damage very quick so be cautious with expensive fish also.
