Where eva theres Cichla!!!
just bought 3 juvie salvini's all at roughly an inch in length, was just curious to know how quickly they grow and what the best foods are to get there colours out.. there in with a clown knife so the quicker they grow the better...try n get pics soon

They'll reach 3 inches or so in a year. When I was capturing them in the "wild" florida canals, they were taking small worms, basically anything that hit the surface of the water. Krill, and other foods with natural red pigment will keep their colors bright.

Mine grew from 1.5-5" (maybe 6") in less than a year. I am feeding HBH pellets, omgega1 pellets and flakes, shimp, smelt and krill

Wow, that's a heck of a lot quicker than I ever grew them!

We've got to find a way to keep them looking like this:

I bought two last August, both at about 1 and 1/2". One grew much faster than the other. The larger one is at about 5" or maybe even close to 6". The smaller one is at about 3"-4". I keep the water temp at about 80-82 deg. and feed them Hikari Gold Cichlid and occasional feeders and krill.

This is the larger one...

Definitely my favorite CA cichlid.
