Was checking out a fish my buddy wants to get rid of, and claims its a Jack Dempsey but it looks more less like a salvini..sorry for the bad pics, but, let me know what you think!

Sure has the salvini look. Could have some texas or some jd, in fact, it seems
 
I say salvini. Head and mouth look exactly like a salvini.

Not a hybrid by appearance. Just a large male Salvini. Males have loads of blue especially on the cheeks.

Okay thank you. What would be a suitable tank mate for him? a female or any other species perhaps??

Seeing that some have had luck with a female, but considering this is in a 55 gallon worries me about how many I can keep, from what i've read no more than two, which is kinda' pushing it..
