Salvini trying to breed with no male

Hi,

So my 2.5 inch Salvini is in breeding mode right now, I think. Her tube is dropped, plus shes picked this cave that she protects, and shes been grabbing rocks with her mouth and them spitting them out into a pile. Shes been doing this for a few days. And Shes gotten alot more aggressive, any fish that gets near that cave she flares her gills at and then chases and tries to bite, even a bigger JD. The only fish where theres no hostility towards is a female blue acara, I think the salvini is trying to mate with her. She shakes at the blue acara and I see she even slaps her tail in the blue acaras face. But the blue acara is a female, so its not gonna happen. All the fish are female in the tank.

I dont see any eggs. How long will she act like this?

umm that what my hap did, and they mated.. so i dink ur salvini and blue acara is gonan mate soon!! IMO hehe =) GL

But the Blue Acara is female. Plus the Blue Acara shows no interest at all. Completely ignores the tail slapping and shaking.

Well she laid eggs now, looks about 50-60 eggs.

Pretty common. My tank is mostly all female and I have a couple female pair they lay eggs all the time.

wait.. so salvini is female and blue is female.. any male in the tank>? im confused.. maybe there a male that is fertilizing it haha =)

No males. The Blue Acara is not fertilizing, cause no tube is dropped, plus I am sure its a female.

oh no!! girl on girl action j/p.. well.. there must be one male in there cause she layin it =)

They can lay eggs without the male. Theres no sexual intercourse, eggs are laid and a male goes up and fertilizes it. So because theres eggs, it doesnt mean theres a male.
