I have a male Firemouth about 3-4" and a female salvini about 3-4" in a
4' long 90G tank with a 8" Oscar, 8" Pleco and 3-4" Jack Dempsey.
The salvini and JD were fighting a little bit and the FM would join in and help the salvini. The FM and salvini have been chasing each other a little bit recently and lip locking but it almost seemed like it could be a mating ritual. Am I way off base here or are they just fighting for territory? I do find it weird that the Sal and FM gang up on the JD. My FM is relatively aggressive and seems to hold its own with JD for now. Could the FM just be helping the salvini for its future survival?
