im gonna be setting up my 55g next week for a pair of salvini. my goal is to get them to mate in the tank. one of my LFS has about 5 or 6 of them. they are about 2-3" each. im pretty sure that there was 2 females and the rest were males. would it be best to just get 1m/1f or get a few juvis and wait for them to pair off. i know they're known for their aggression, that's why im a little worried about a few of them in the tank but they all seemed fine in alot smaller of a tank at the store. also should i get some dither of the tank to distract them from each other

For some reason they are always fine in LFS ..i think the reason is stress.. they were usually just put there recently..LFS get away with alot more then we can when we bring them home and they settle in our tank:D ..Then all hell can break loose or everything can go honky dory..please post some pics when you get them.. i was thinking of a couple myself..they are beautiful..best of luck.

Getting those guys to mate in that tank will be easy. Having more than one live fish in that tank after they mate is a different story. Good luck.

so you think just make sure i get 2 females and one male and no dithers, i was thinking some zebra danio

I would go with a group of juvis and let them pair off on their own. You could have a bunch of caves in the tank so that the fish that don't pair up have a better chance of survival.

Salvini like Plants too, so you may want to use them as well. Make sure you anchor them tho, to protect the roots. I place mine inside rocks with holes in them, by lying them flat in the substrate and burying the roots

Should be a very colorful 55. Good luck!
