Hey guys. I moved my Ck into a 125g and i know fish wont be themselves for a few days but my guy doesnt have it all together. I moved him in there six days ago and just this morning he had one piece of frozen shrimp. He usually eats two or three pieces. I put his old decoration which he use to hide in and he really doesnt go in it. When should I expect him to be his normal self? He also has been swimming sideways on the bottom like hes playing? He turns sideways, runs his body along the body of the tank then whips himself to his upright position. Thanks

Sounds like it might have Fluke or some type of parasite.

I dont think so because when he was in his other tank he eat like a champ, every other day for a year. I havent given him anything live for at least a year. I tried feeding him now, he put it in his mouth and spit it out. He always has loved shrimp. How would I know if he had flukes or a parasite? He rarely swims sideways on the bottom.

If he's swims sideways and then swoops up quickly, it's kind of like the fish trying to scratch an itch. If it does it a little, I wouldn't worry. However, if it's doing it on a consistent level, then there is a possibility of a parasite. Other than that, it can take a large CK a few months to adapt to it's new surroundings.

And I looked in his tank, his waste is all green. Its usually a light brown. I dont remember it being green ever.

I wouldn't panic yet. Monitor him a few more days & see if he adjusts. I remember my RCK taking almost two wks. before he was back to normal after a move. "T"

I havent seen him do the sideways swimming at all so thats good. His waste return to its normal color, brownish. I still cant understand why he eat more in the old tank, he would eat 2-3 pieces of frozen shrimp at one time. I can only get him to eat 1 piece and got lucky one morning when he eat 2 pieces. If I try to hand feed him he swims away lol, I use to hand feed him.

A few months? He is large, 16in. Why so long?

It's a pretty shy fish. Shy fish tends to adjust slowly. I've noticed that sometimes, large CKs will adjust slowly. Some may adjust in a week or 2 and some just take forever to adjust to their surroundings. And then one day, it'll act normal again as if nothing ever happened.

Alright. Have you ever heard of a fish biting the silicone sealing on the inside of the tank? My CK has starting doing that and I dont want him to die of ingestion or have the tank start leaking. The tank is barebottom and Im pretty sure the only thing I could do would be to have gravel again. Any suggestions?
