Yeah, it's been asked a million times, but I really have tried to find what I want. I have a 150 long (72x18x24) that I am going to be setting up with a couple of bichirs from my 55 that are getting too big. I have been dutifully trying to come up with fish combos that will keep my attention and provide a safe environment for the bichirs (and all the tank inhabitants). So here is where I am at:

Definately:
1 Ornate Bichir (7")
1 Palmas Beuttikoferi (6.5")
1 Palmas Polli (5.5")
1 Reed fish (12")

Possibly:
Firemouths? (a small group of 5ish) and/or
Green Sevrums? (a small group of 5ish) and/or
Tinfoil barbs (6ish) and/or
Silver Dollars (6ish) and/or
Clown Loaches (5+) and/or
Synodontus (probably angelicus, or maybe a mix) 2-3 and/or
something else?

I am looking for something that won't eat/harm the bichirs (I hate losing sleep over my relaxing hobby fish). I need something that the bichirs won't eat. I want fairly active fish that will be visible most of the time. There may be java fern in the tank, but it won't be heavily planted. If you think of something not on my list, I am open to suggestions. I am not interested in the standard fish that keep popping on stock suggestion lists... arrowanas could eat the bichirs, oscars could eat the smaller bichirs, etc. Inspire me, please! Thanks for your time and consideration.

Ever think about red headed sevs or redhooks??

red hooks as in red hook silver dollars? Yeah, I thought about them. I am not really concerned with what kind of silver doller I get, or what kind of sevrum I get... I am thinking more about fish types right now. Heck, I might mix red gold and green sevrums for the "karma chameleon" look. But, the crux of my question is what will work well in the parameters I have to work with. I am still just not inspired.

How about some discus fish?
