same tank, acrylic vs glass weight

how much weight are you going to save over the same tank from acrylic to glass. im looking at glass cages 125wide and acrylic is $50 so is the weight difference gonna be that much. i will be having to carry it up to a 2nd floor apt.

THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT YOU SAVE DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE AQUARIUM AND THE THICKNESS MATERIAL USED IN EACH..... AS THE TANK(S) GET BIGGER YOU SAVE MORE WEIGHT..., LARGE GLASS TANKS ARE REALLY HEAVY......

Dont quote me on this, but I _think_ acryl (given the same size and thickness of course) weighs about half of glass.

I have a 120 that had to be carried to the 2nd floor. It took four people and we wanted to die by the time we got it there. I also have a 110 that is acrylic that two people carried with no problem.

was the 120 glass or acrylic?

My 150 is acrylic and 2 people can carry it without problems. It's no treat, but not impossible. Getting the same size glass tank up to a 2nd floor would be much trickier and you'd need a couple more people. Really your probably better off getting what you want as once it's moved that's over with. Acrylic will save weight on the floor too, which is something to think about.
