So i heard alot about how sand is good for the aquarium, but my question is that would it be good for digging cichlids like convicts? And while they're digging would they stir up the sand too much to be caught in the filter? Let me know, cuz i have gravel substrates and i want to change it to sand if possible thanks,,,,

It has been my experiance that they do fine in sand and actually seem to enjoy it. They will root it around and aquascape to suit their own preferance but I have never had a problem with it getting sucked into the filter. I keep 2 adult Oscars in a 135 right now with a black sand substrate and they have been fine for 5 years now...
