I have a large amount of Caribsand leftover from my saltwater reef tank remodel and I'm wanting to start a Frontosa tank and would like to know if agranite sand is safe to use with these fish or if crushed coral would be the safer choice.

I use crushed coral but agranite would be fine. If it was in a saltwater tank make sure you clean it somehow. The make a grade of agranite thats large then sand but not anywhere never close to crushed coral. I think it would be a good idea to do a mix of the 2. That way it will be easier to clean and also you dont have to buy all new. I think the grade is call pea something.... Its just like really coarse sand.

It wasn't in the salty tank. It's still in bags.

PFS or play sand could be another option for you as well. But you could use what you have already, just rinse it out.

Have used both of these items in my Front tanks & it works well. The only thing I would say is that coarse substrate can tend to wear the long trailers off of your mature males, it did mine.
