i am doing a 180, and using pool filter sand as substrate
i want it lightly planted, just enough to keep water quality stable
it will have some lighting, but nothing over the top.
i have a few catfish that will be in there, but they arent really diggers

any particular plants anyone recommends?

amazon swords, java fern on decorations

I always swear by potted Annubias, tough, fast growing if you use enough light, and if not, it's low light tolerant. I also use philodendron, those viny house plants; i break off
the stems with leaves, and plant the vines in the water with most of the leaves outside of the tank, and soon, roots are sprouting from the stems. Also vallis are fast growers if you use enough light.
