Ok, I have a 250 gallon and all black sand for substrate. I was wondering if anyone had an idea about how to keep the bottom flowing to move around waste without moving all my sand to one side or dig a hole in the substrate. I have 3 powerheads, one at the side top,one at the other side 3/4 of the way down and one at the top middle back wall. My puffer banged into one of the power heads and twisted the diffuser and the flow made a big slope in the sand to whre you could see the bottom of the tank. How do I eliminate this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.

i've always wondered how people keep the tanks with fine sand so clean. Still boggels my mind. you should try positioning the powerheads facing the front of the tank with one on the left, center and right. And move them up and down so that the stream of water coming out of the power heads hits the front of the glass than goes down . Adjust the flow rate of them so it doesnt blow around sand too much
