Sand as a substrate?

Anyways i was wondering if its harder to maintain than the standard rock gravel??? is it harder to clean? how is it compared to standard gravel??? anyways the stuff im talking about is called CaribSea Aquarium Sand ...... thx in advance........

Sand is def. nicer, but the dirt really shows because it stays on top and sand tends to get sucked out when vacuming

I have that sand in my tank. Expensive as he11 and need to say if yoiur fish are quiet messy then this sand will be a hassle. MAKE SURE YOU TURN YOUR FILTER OFF WHILE ADDING SAND

watch this vid... will show you have to clean sand... if you are willing to do it then... sand rocks... may want look into another way of getting black sand... I know there are threads about it here...

OK i added the sand should now its cloudy as hell, should i leave the filters off while it settles or put it back on?

Ive added sand twice. The first time my water got real cloudy and alot of the sand suspended in the water. The second time i rinsed AND soaked it first and it was much better

go with sand its the only way to look at fish. but you have to clean the crap out of it 400%
