cycling the tank for a day now. i use a very very small amount of the conditioner i had left and added tap water. i added half the bottle of a 50 gallon marine salt without even testing the gravity. temp is around 72 can i add live sand now or would my water kill all the bacteria?

1st of all, get the specific gravity right. You don't need any water "conditioners" to cycle a SW tank. Add sand & a handful of live sand from another's established tank then add live rock & your skimmer. Watch the ammonia/nitrates & do water changes accordingly, until the nitrates stay <10 & ammonia/nitrates remain 0. Then, the tank is cycled.
