Anyone know how long before a new sandbottom ffreshwater tank will take to clear? I cant see **** in my tank and its been a good 2-3 days now.

Its back and white sand mix.

Should i do a water change?

My sand only took one day to settle if you change the water make sure you are very carefull not to stir it up any more then it is. What brand is the sand you use?

Im not 100% sure. i think natures sand?

was i supposed to rinse it?

I would reccomend giving it a quick rinse before putting it in your tank but I dout that has anything to do with it being cloudy. Are you running any filtration on the tank where the sand is? If you are I would turn it off and see if the sand settles.

yeh my filters running. but the return is up high aimed at the surface.

how do u clean the sand? b/c im going to think that my python will suck up the sand. is all u can do is water changes? and scoop out any particles?

I had the same problem when I put sand in my tank. It took 3 to 4 days for it to become completly clear. I put water in first and have a very tall tank which made it worse.

i got really fine white sand. like mud when its stirs.

i was thinking of using a thin siphon tube to vacuum the little **** particles on top with out losing too much sand at a time and use the python for just water changes.

maybe stir up the sand a bit before the water change?
