anyone used one of these cloverleaf M25p sand filters as they look great as they have a by pass so you can still run your pump flat out without pumping all the sand back into the main tank which is normally a problem as you have to turn the flow down on the pump which i feel is a waste of the pump

think I'm going to try one as the small m25p does a 2,500 gal pond

I've seen them before and they seem to work very well. I have also seen a DIY version that works great. I have not personally used one.

FBF are a major PIA.
Even if you get everything working right, all the sand in suspension...
Which is a major trick.
Every time the system is stopped you have a good chance of the sand not going back into suspension, but just clumping, with a hole blown through it.
Add in, at some point this needs to be cleaned.
For all but the pros, I will stay away from these.
With all the other options for Bio filtration...well, like I said..
Major PIA
