Sand filters?

These things are cheap! Saw one putting out 1500-1800 gph/hour for like £150. Are they worth using? I'm guessing you'd have to use other filters for bio but for water movement these things a're beastly. What are your thoughts?

They're great so long as you retain the backwash capabilities
