Sand for substrate. whats the best to use?

i know this has been talked about before but i can seem to find a clear answer. id like to use sand in my new 300gal setup. i "may" add , down the road, a few stingrays so i need something that wont bother them. i was going to order some caribsea torpedo beach sand but the deal fell threw.

i think id like something more light brown or whitish.

lets hear some suggestions.

just yesterday i put sand in my tank.. i just took playground sand and wached all the silt out many times and now its in the tank cycling with goldfish

is it silica sand? how course it is?
