i went to a lfs to pic up some sand and we talk about wether or not a fine grain sand can harm a ray or not. this got me nervous to pic some up. it is a non silica sand with no name. i had purchased some in the past for one of my tanks and had a lg motoro in the tank that had went on food strikes on occasion and had other health complications. unfortunately i had eventually lost her she was in with that sand for about 6 months or so before she past. i don't think this is way she died but i really don't know what happened to her this time. this sand is slightly smaller grain than Estes witch i know is popular. so what do you think can sand be too fine? this sand is not abrasive by the way. a penny for your thoughts.

sand can't be too fine for the ray.... I'm not the best to help here though cause I prefer barebottom tanks with rays.... if the sand is non silica and a non buffering sand I don't see a problem with it.... there are a lot of really fine sands designed for salt water use and they will mess with the PH
