what is better sand or gravel? i have gravel now but i like the look of sand.. are there any advantages to one or the other? whats easier to keep clean? what do you have?

It all depends of what you want your tank to look like... IMO I would go sand just because I like the look more but gravel can be easier to clean if you are a beginner...

well this is my first tank, and thats why i chose gravel, i figured it would be easier to keep clean, how do you clean the sand?
Sand looks better but its finer than gravel and is easily stirred up possibly getting in filters and damaging them, or possibly getting sucked up by the vac when cleaning. But there are precautions for all of that.....and there are pros and cons to both substrates.
Sand! Its awesome and easy to clean! I just switched myself first time sand and never going back. Poop and crap don't go to the bottom
PFS is perfect sand for substrate. It's heavy enough to not stay suspended very long. Waste stays on surface of sand and can be easily vacuumed.
The BB is in the top layer of sand. I depend on my canister filter and hob with bio wheel to maintain BB.
