I currently have sand in my 125. I am getting really tired of seeing poop sitting on top of the sand. I am seriously considering switching back to gravel, but before I do I would like to know what you all prefer and why.

Sand over gravel for exactly the reason you mentioned. Sure you may see the poo on sand, but thats a lot better than you not seeing it while it settles in gravel and builds up hurtimg water quality. I like the look of gravel so I use a mix with very small gravel and black sand to get the look I like and keep my water quality up

well with the gravel the poop gets to the bottom and in between rocks. do a small layer over your sand itll look nice. i love sand cause it is so easy to spot the poop and get it with the grav vac

I like the mixed idea! Can I see some pics? Also what's keeping the gravel from mixing in with the bottom layer of sand?

Here's my mixed sand and gravel in my 90 I have primarily sand with I wanna say half as much gravel as I have sand mixed in.
