Sand or no sand

Hi, I'm new just wanted to ask everybody that knows or has sand in there tank ? Do you have to be in top of it to keep it clean ? I'm set up a 125 gallon glass tank with African cichlids.

It's pretty easy to keep clean because the junk stays on top of it. just stir it up every once in a while to get debris out that became buried. I recommend against playsand, especially if you have HOB filters. Use pool filter sand.

Yeah, and your Africans will appreciate sand more than gravel because they like to dig.

80lbs to 100lbs. I wouldn't go over 100.

I have 150lbs in my 125. It will be planted though. No need to yell BTW.
