hi all,
which is better for MBU tank, sand or stone gravels?
cheers

Either is fine but sand is harder to keep up & needs to be stirred by hand. You can easily clean gravel with a Python during WC.

thanks for the reply,
I currently using stone gravels, and I was just wandering if MBU would enjoy sand better than stones.
cheers

I don't think it matters. He comes from a river, where there is both sand & stones. With a tank the size he'll need, go with what's easiest to maintain.

Hi, they prefer sand as they like to bury there selves in it at night. They also can easily scratch them selves on sharp objects as there are scaleless fish.

Andrex, Do you keep a mbu? Because I've ever ever heard of one burrowing & I've never heard of their thick, leathery skin getting scratched on substrate.

yes, i had a 14inch MBU that just died. Yes they burrow them selves in sand and are eaisly scratched on most objects.

sorry to hear about your loss, but i'm curious do you have a video or photo of a buried MBU? coz i would really love to see it if you do...
