Is 44lbs of black sand substrate are already suffice for a 220 gal tank to cover the bottom? Not too thick and not too thin?

Thanks

Depends on the floor space of the tank. But it seems thin to me.

Because I am guessing your not growing plants it may be fine as long as you have no fish that like to play at the bottom.

But for perspective I have a good 30lbs in my 54g corner planted tank.

If you have all mid and top level fish then the substraite is just for looks so put as much or little as you like

@Alhazred, the space of the tank is 2ft width and 6ft long. I am not putting plants I just wanted to cover the styro underneath. :)

I can't remember what sq ft a 50lb will cover, but I have about 100lbs in my 6x18 and it covers it about to the height of the bottom trim. Again, it depends on your goal with the subrstrate and your stock. Give us some ideas of what youre looking for

I just need to cover the styro underneath that's all. I have silver arowana, a flagtail, a NTT and a bichir. I will also put 1 or 2 big driftwood for the bichir to avoid slime sucking flagtail hehe..
