First a little background info. I'm currently building a large wooden tank, it's 10Ft long 3Ft tall and 2Ft wide. I would really like to use black sand for the substrate. So here are the questions: How much do I need to get about an inch on the bottom? What size grain should I get so that every time a fish moves it won't kick up a cloud and destroy my pumps? Also I found a site a while ago with really good prices on sand and free shipping, but I can't seem to find it again. Any idea which site this may have been?

Any and all input will be appreciated.

P.S. the tank is going to house frontosa and other Tang. Cichlids.

Try checking a local mineral company for your sand. I just picked up 200lbs of pool filter sand for $44. I couldn't find the sand anywhere. LFS wanted $44 for a 100lbs bag. They also should have different grains of the sand as well. I like the .8 grain size. It's big easy to clean, not as fine as other sands. A mineral company will also have all kinds of rocks you can buy for a really good price as well.
