Just discovered that we keep the old pool filter sand we use under the steps in our pool and there's 12 bags of perfectly good stuff behind my shed. I have two major questions about it though. Assuming it won't change my pH (testing it overnight).

1) Will plants be good in it assuming I have good lighting and water?

2) Is the grade (#20) ok to keep Corydoras catfish or is it to coarse?

that'll be fine for plants, just get some root tabs and or up your fert schedule.
for the catfish i have no clue lol

I use pool filter sand, it is generally inert (does not alter pH) and I use it with plants, and in tanks with Synodontus, Corydorus and Aspidorus catfish.

Thanks guys! I'll be putting it in my riffle tank tomorrow and in my new cory tank when I set it up in a few days.
