which sand is heavier pool sand or play sand, im planning to switch my gravel and put sand in. Also which one is finer or perfer for keeping rays

Pool sand is heavier. I don't know which one is better for rays. I see that alot of people who keep rays have bare bottom tanks.
From what I've researched the "best" substrate for rays is an on-going debate. Lots of people say bare bottom is best but sand is more "natural" to which a common reply is that in nature they mostly live over a more muddy substrate so ya...lots of debate. At work our rays are kept in some type of sand and seem quite happy. I'll find out tomorrow what type of sand it is.
