sand substate

well ever you have a tank with sand do do you have to stir and mix-up the sand every one in a while, or can you put in the tank and forget it. i have herd of people talking about "sand rot".

can someone enlighten me on this

i think stiring up the sand in the tank just releases any gas build ups underneath that are trapped. i stir the sand up in my 100 gal every other time i do a wc.
