I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to set up my 125 gallon tank and am considering using pool filter sand (light colored) as a substrate w/ a black background and some colorful rocks/plants. Just wanted to see what it may look like so could you please post pictures of any tanks with a light colored sand substrate and black background?

This is my 75 from one end
(I changed it to black sand though)

I'm thinking a severum/geo stock. Possibly 3 or 4 severums and 6 geophagus red head tapajos. I also want to add a group of schooling fish, such as a filament barbs.

Another possiblity I was considering was 2 severums and an EBJD, along with the 6 geos and school of filament barbs.

I'm thinking a light sand substrate (for the geos) and a black background with some colorful plants would work best for showing off this stock. I wanted to get a better idea though by seeing some pictures.

imo black sand and black background will be most pleasing, and 1 severum and 8 or 10 geos will be better

this is my 58 gallon gymnogeophagus uruguay tank. it has pfs and a krylon flat black background. plants are anubias, java fern and crypts. malaysian driftwood and river stones and i use a T5HO fixture with one 10000k 39 watt bulb.

Here ya go. Geos and sevs are a great choice for a 125g BTW... Most of the smaller geos and sevs are moving to my 125 gallon too.

Normally I keep the heaters in the sump but my garage is really cold right now so it looks a little clunky..
