I filled my 55gal with sand as the substrate and not only is the stand wobbly, but it is murky. My mom has this wooden (i don't know what you call it ) but it is 45" long by 20" wide so and inch and a half sticking off each end shouldn't be too bad eh? also i have to empty atleast half the water to move it and how long did it take your water to stop the cloudyness (and yes i did clean the sand)

I dont understand what you are asking.

"I filled my 55gal with sand as the substrate and not only is the stand wobbly, but it is murky."

wobbly sand? i really dont understand at all, and then after that nearly everything else was jibberish.

"My mom has this wooden (i don't know what you call it ) but it is 45" long by 20" wide so and inch and a half sticking off each end shouldn't be too bad eh?"

Repost this again mate with some sort of question and someone might be able to help you :)

#1...If it is cloudy, you didn't rinse the sand enough but it will settle after a while.
#2.. I would fix your wobbly stand before using something else that is shorter then the tanks footprint as your tank needs to be supported correctly.
#3...Empty your tank of water before moving it or you run the real risk of it cracking.

The stand my tank is on is a little wobbly when you walk by it.
Fixed that problem.
I cleaned the sand until i filled it and it was clear, put the sand into my tank and when i filled it it is murky. (I didn't start cycling the tank yet so there is no bacteria to help it settle). How long will it take to settle on its own?

i think he means that he filled his tank with sand as subtrate, and after he did it made the water murky, and now is stand is wobbley. now he wants to know if he can move his tank to a stand of some sort that is shorter than the tank EDIT guess i type slow

This sturdy wooden thing is 45" long 20" wide so 1 1/2 inch off each end. You think my tank will break becauze of 3 inches?

Anyone think this will cause my tank to burst????

i say it isnt safe, u should buy some wood and measure it out and build a stand... me n my bro built a stand for a 125 gallon tank and it only costed us 60 dollars.. bought all the stuff for it from lowes

Buy a few 8x4x2s and have them cut the pieces into size if you can't. It only cost me like $50 of wood to build mine that is more than strong enough.

thats what happend to me to. i just filled my 29 gallon today with sand and i rise it throughly with water many many many times.. but when i set it into my tank. it gets all cloudy. i waited for 2 hours for it to settle, but it's seems like its just flouting around. so im not sure what i gone wrong. this reply sure helps. i think i just have to rinse it more.. :S wonder how many times. :irked:
