what is a cheap and accesable sand substrate. IT will be for a EBJD AND A TEXAS, COM PLECO. also never ever used sand. open to suggestions. would beach sand work...?

um pool filter sand is fairly cheap. it's not too fine so it won't mess up your filter. just give it a good rinse.
it's something like $10 for 50lbs?

3m Colorquartz is also nice. It's not too fine either. There are a lot of color choices. it's roughly $22 for 50lbs.

how big is your tank btw?

Where do you get the colorquartz? Does it come in black?

I've always used play sand from home depot that runs about 3 bucks a bag.

Um check the 3m website to see where you can get colorquartz around your area. I use a different poolfilter sand than the one at my homedepot because a member bought the one there and it was too fine for our taste.
