Sand substrate

Hey there, fairly new at this and by no means a monster keeper yet but am aquiring my first saratoga in a couple weeks. I am setting up a 4ft tank today ( I realise he will out grow this quickly but I had it sitting doing nothing and it will do for a bit) just inquiring as to a substrate, I have a bag of pure sandblasting sand which is just really fine glass beads or in essence sand. Would this d be ok to use as the saratoga never goes on the bottom? I have strained this stuff through my hand and its not sharp at all, they are actually minute beads, round.
Any help appreciated

Ive used sand in a few tanks with elephant nose an dolphin an some other fish I like how it looks alot but it just sucks to clean an crap shows up on it easy seems like i could never get everthing off it i proly wasnnt cleaning it right but it seem its hard to keep clean.

Thanks guys, I couldnt see why it would be any dramas. Its not designed for aquaria but its pure. I'll just soak it a couple times incase its got any small contaminants in it. Yes spotted-elk I already have a 4footer with very fine gravel and thats a pain to syphon off of but I've found that a relatively quick flowing water at the bottom level will sweep away most of the debris.
