Sand turning color

Most likely algae and/or natural protein building up.
 
Adding some sort of sand sifter or bottom dweller to constantly stir up the pfs may help.
 
I think that's the problem is I had this tank running for like a year but I used to have frontosa and never had a problem they were always digging, now I have just a dovii and he doesn't really dig is there anything that can go in with him that he won't kill?
