Hey guys so im almost done building my small shark pond and its time to get sand for the bottom of it. I was wondering where I can get 1000lbs of sand for cheap and the right kind. Because I think live sand is too expensive for such large quantity's what kind of sand would I need. Any help is greatly appreciated and happy shark week :)

A 1,000 lbs load is going to be alot!

I've used SeaFlor Special Grade or FL Crushed Coral for big exhibits. Dry will require a good rinse (trust me on that one), but it's much cheaper and easier to deal with large volumes like that.

Does anywhere sell like aragonite in bulk? or is there a different kind of sand that a hardware store would sell that would work?

Yes. It is less than a $100 a ton for sugar to dust fine Bahamas white agaronite. Email me and I will give you the number. It is typically sold in 22 ton units. I live near the port where it comes so I get it by the pickup truck load. It is mainly used for the agriculture industry. I have it in all of my tanks. It bubbles when placed in vinegar.

It is similar to the old Southdown sand, but finer.

Is it safe to use FL crushed coral? Sorry I dont mean to hijack the OPs thread but I thought it was better to go with the sugar grain sand because the crushed coral could cause abrasions on the sharks belly.
